Mission Bay High School Jazz Band Performs Live in Yokohama! 🇺🇸🇯🇵

The San Diego-Yokohama Sister City Society is proud to announce a special series of performances by the Mission Bay High School Jazz Preservationists, one of the premier youth jazz ensembles from San Diego, California.

As part of the cultural exchange between sister cities San Diego and Yokohama, these talented student musicians will be performing at multiple locations across Yokohama this March.

These performances celebrate over 65 years of friendship between San Diego and Yokohama, which became official Sister Cities in 1957. Come enjoy the soulful sounds of youth jazz and experience the energy of this cross-cultural exchange!

Mission Bay Music presents The Meraki Concerts Series 2025

Mission Bay High School Announces the Second Season of the Meraki Concert Series

SAN DIEGO, CA – Mission Bay High School is proud to present the second season of the Meraki Concert Series, a premier jazz music experience produced entirely by students in the school’s Music Business Program. Running from January through May, this unique work-study initiative provides students with hands-on experience in the business side of the music industry, preparing them for future careers in event production, artist management, and live music promotion.

The Meraki Concert Series is a student-driven effort, with Mission Bay High School (MBHS) students overseeing all aspects of event production, including venue management, artist booking, marketing, sponsorship outreach, and day-of operations. In collaboration with Meraki Event Space and Lounge and the San Diego-Yokohama Sister City Society, this year’s series will feature a stellar lineup of acclaimed and emerging jazz artists.

“Through the Meraki Concert Series, we are not just presenting music – we are creating an immersive experience, crafted through the dedication and talent of our students,” said Jean-Paul Balmat, director of the Mission Bay High School Music Program. “This series reflects our commitment to fostering young talent, engaging our community, and celebrating the diverse world of jazz.”

Each evening will begin with a special performance by a Mission Bay High School ensemble, showcasing the rising stars of the school’s acclaimed music program.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for reservations-only dining, with headlining performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. The concerts will take place at Meraki Event Space and Lounge, located at 1648 30th St., San Diego, CA.

Tickets & Dining Experience:

  • General Admission: $25 per person (available at merakiconcerts.com)
  • Dining Packages: Starting at $70, includes admission, reserved seating, and a curated dinner experience featuring an appetizer and entrée inspired by the season’s finest ingredients.

Proceeds from ticket sales and dining will directly support Mission Bay High School’s nonprofit music program, ensuring students continue to have access to enriching educational and performance opportunities.
